IRS code 899: Treasury offset reversed or refunded
- Effect:
- Reverses an offset
An earlier Treasury offset (898) was reversed or refunded, in whole or in part.
What code 899 means
Code 899 reverses an earlier 898 with the same offset trace number. Document 6209 lists four types: an offset reversal by the Fiscal Service, an agency refund of the offset, a Fiscal Service refund of the offset, and an agency refund reversal.
It posts as a memo amount, so the notice from the Fiscal Service or the agency is the place to see what happened to the money.
